Eric Nicoli

Chairman, EMI Music Sound Foundation.

Eric Nicoli is a physics graduate and, following a career in marketing at Rowntree Mackintosh, he joined United Biscuits, a leading international food group, in 1980. At UB he progressed to be group chief executive, a role he held from 1991 until 1999 when he left to join EMI Group plc as Executive Chairman. In August 2007 he stepped down following the sale of the company to Terra Firma.

Since January 2007 Nicoli has been non-executive chairman of Vue Entertainment Ltd, one of the UK�s leading cinema operators.

Nicoli is a Board member of Creative and Cultural Skills, a creative industries-led body aimed at improving competitiveness through skills, and also sits on the steering group which advises the Culture Secretary on the UK Government's Creative Economy Programme.

In June 2006 Nicoli was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for services to the music industry.
