EMI Music Sound Foundation

EMI Music Sound Foundation is an independent music education charity, established in 1997 to celebrate the centenary of EMI Records and to improve young peoples' access to music education in the UK & Ireland.

Where are they now?

Upon reviewing applications for our March 2017 meeting, it was lovely to see that Isabel Pinto-Basto, who was awarded £350 towards a new saxophone back in 2009, is now a music teacher and applied for funding for instruments to use in her classroom.

She has sent us the update below letting us know what she has been up to since receiving her award:

‘When I received the money for my baritone saxophone I was able to join big bands and ensembles where baritone saxophone was needed. I performed on the baritone during my final recital. After graduating I moved to Lisbon, Portugal with my saxophones and played in some local big bands with my baritone, although I struggled with transporting it on the cobbled streets! When I moved back to London I began working in schools and now I use my baritone during music workshops for young people in challenging circumstances.’

We love to hear what our applicants are up to, so please do email any updates to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
