Trustees & Patrons
We have a Board of Trustees, chaired by Adam Barker, who with a wealth of experience and commitment to music, help us run the charity effectively and fairly.
Ruth began her career in 1976 when she joined United Artists Records. After working for CBS Records (Sony) and Island Records she joined EMI Records in 1982.
Ruth’s roles within EMI UK were operational, managing a team and acting as the conduit between the marketing and manufacturing sectors. Following a five year spell in A&R managing all administration, in 1992 she went to assist in the setting up of a European manufacturing customer service department managing teams in Holland and the UK.
In 1998 Ruth left the music industry to pursue another passion in complementary health and founded an agency that managed doctors and therapists in this field. Her role provided PR, business planning, coaching, marketing, event management and literary agent services for clients.
Returning to EMI Music in 2002 initially for a three month period, Ruth stayed for a further ten years as Vice President of Content Protection for the UK & Eire, Europe and latterly as Vice President of Global Content Protection.
During her final years with EMI Music she founded another company, Pop4Schools, which focussed on music education for primary school children. Working with a Head Teacher and other educationalists, Pop4Schools developed into a cross-curricular resource teaching about the music industry through curriculum subjects.
Through her experience and listening to the education sector Ruth created a music creation app in 2013 which was released through the App Store and has achieved over 1.5 million downloads globally.
Now living in Spain Ruth keeps in close contact with many of her music industry friends and colleagues and is proud to be a part of the EMI Music Sound Foundation.
